the vineyard

Yanmah Ridge is the highest vineyard in the area rising from 250 metres above sea level at the base to 315 metres at the peak. At present all vines are planted on north facing slopes. The north facing slopes are critical for the later ripening varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon. Even in good years it is difficult to ripen Semillon, indicating the coolness of the vineyard site. The north facing aspect is critical in allowing sunlight interception into the canopy.
